English is the global language used by the people in the planet earth. English became a requirement, subject and communication for jobs, works and education.
As for education, the government is hiring well trained English teachers for the benefit of the students to learn English subject. But the problem is that, not all of the students are aware of the significance of learning in this area, students don’t understand on what could be the effect of the subject onto their future. As a solution to the problem, is it possible to implement a policy to encourage, educate and require the students to speak English inside the school campus excluding the Filipino subject? Of course it is possible but, what could be the reaction or feedback of the student in this policy.
Having a policy like this a breath of fresh air for the teachers to lessen their effort to teach the students the English subject. A simple English conversation is a big help or a big step to start learning the subject. With the help of the teachers and the student leaders to encourage the students to learn in this subject, the implementation of this policy would be a better cure for the problems of speaking and learning English in the field of education.
The implementation of this policy leads also to negative feedbacks and reactions. First, some said that we cannot hide our native language and that is the Filipino language. Second, others really believe that according to Dr. Jose Rizal, “ang taong hindi marunong magmahal ng sariling wika ay higit pa sa mabaho at malansang isda”.
We cannot say that there would be no negative and positive feedbacks about this policy. Whatever will be the decision, I’m sure that there would be a good outcome on the settlement of the teachers and the student leaders.
We are still Filipinos, and we also need English for the success that we need in our future. English is more than a subject it has a life that still exists and plays a role in the culture, tradition and lifestyle of the global people. English is needed for the success of the future, not actually on the future only but, the key to a better you in all times.
